Thing 4
Registering the blog should have been cake. But, I made an error while typing in my URL. Instead of typing librianfor2, I typed in libraryfor2. Jackie mentioned that I was registered, but it didn't come up when she typed in the URL. The reason I could get to it, was because I had already saved it on my Favorites. It's the simple things that get us sometimes.

Week 2
THING 3
Creating the blog was easy. The instructions on the Web 2.0 outline paralled with the software, so that built my confidence! I was excited when I saw how nice my background of books looked behind my post. I thought it was soo original. Funny, the next day I was at the public library where I volunteer every week and was surfing through the Teen Zone on the Pima County Public Library website and I saw IT! My background was on the Teen Blog for the branch. And I thought I was soo orignial. I learned that blogspot.com is obviously highly popular. Reality.
Creating my avatar was the most fun, but not without complications and frustration. After several attempts and determination, I was able to transfer her to my blog. There were some glitches in that process. I am somewhat dichotomous and do things easier when I can follow step by step-a product of my education. Transfering the avatar successfully, required me to try different things, before the computer finally figured out what I wanted! I had to be persisent as it took time and patience. That won't hold me back, however. I loved dressing her up and look forward to creating more. I already have favorites saved. It's sort of like paper dolls. I always wanted to have my own avatar. They would often pop up as I was surfing the net and I thought, "How'd they do that?"
Question: Can anyone share more specifics about the Monetize Tab for our blogs and in using AdSense? What are all the benefits to using AdSense?

WEEK 1
THING 2
Regarding the 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Effective Learners; the easiest one thus far in my life has been through formal learning. I am a life long learner who is constantly taking classes (both free and for pay) for both personal and professional growth. For example, I started taking formal ballet lessons in my late 30's!
Still, I must learn to value the method of informal learning and focusing on the last habit----PLAY! For it is when we are most relaxed that we learn best and remember most. Successful life long learners know the value of play. Fear of failure and fear of not being perfect can hold us back from discoveries, opportunies for learning and growth in improving our quality of living. Habit 3-Viewing Problems as Challenges is a positive way of looking at situations that I would otherwise worry about or avoid. This can be where procrastination sets in. Changing the way we look at an obstacle is critical to our peace of mind. As I focus on Habit 7-Using Technology to Your Advantage, I want to use technology as a means to make my life easier, keeping in mind that along with that must come a tolerance for ambiguity as new tools are explored.
If you would like to join me on my exploration of Web 2.0 technologies, learn more about anything related to the above, please visit this AWESOME website and come play! Public and school librarians are welcome as are teachers or anyone with a desire to learn and grow with Web 2.0. http://schoollibrarylearning2.csla.net/
